Picking the right real estate agent can be very overwhelming at times. Many people aren’t sure what type of questions to ask them. There are a few key questions that every single home buyer should ask their agent:
1) Are you a member of the National Association of Realtors?
One has to follow many standards and meet very specific qualifications in order to be a member of the National Association of Realtors. You want an agent who adheres to certain guidelines.
2) How long have you been in real estate?
Real estate is not a field where someone has to have years and years of experience in order to be successful at it. However, there are definitely certain rules of the game that a seasoned agent may know better than a novice one. Newer agents may not have as many clients to tend to which can be a positive factor for those that are looking to buy as soon as possible.
3) What is your standard ratio of list prices to sale prices?
This is by far the most important question to ask an agent before selecting them because it helps you know their level of skill in negotiating. The best agents out there are expert negotiators that are able to reduce the asking price of a home. You want to choose an agent that has a high ratio because that means that they may be able to save you some money!
In addition to these questions, it’s smart to ask potential agents for a list of references and why you should choose them.
